Where does the name Lieves comes from ?
The name Lieves comes from the Dutch word “lieve” which means “dear/sweet”, and then added the letter “S” which stands for the name Sofia ( the designer’s daughter): Lieves it is a gift from a mother to her
daughter.

“For Women-by-Women: I was a full-time working mum with more than ten years of working experience in high-end fashion brands when I decided to quit my job in 2024 to then have time to spend with my lovely daughter Sofia and not least pursue my dream job in designing timeless jewellery at a fair prices with focus on working ethical principles .

The deep and extended knowledge I have build in fashion & luxury through years and more recently an MSc in Luxury has made me so aware of problems with sustainability and the supply chain in the fashion industry that there was no doubt I wanted to create something that won’t be replaced by seasons or trends, such as a jewellery piece that you wear from day to night over the years.

The idea of crafting in Bali was born during one of my family holiday trip the year before. I was truly amazed by the heritage and outstanding local craftsmanship, as I visited several jewellery ateliers and went shopping at local stores. I spent months researching and hand-sketching pearls jewels until I was confident enough to design my first collection.
Unexpectedly, soon after that I had an accident where I had a open fracture on my right hand, and I had spent several weeks just drawing my second collection on my mind. It was a tough moment but also a very strong one where I had much inspiration about the vision, I wanted to bring to the brand.
